What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work the same way. They are used to remember things between pages and between visits.
The law that applies here is the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, alongside the UK GDPR. It means we may only set non-essential cookies with your agreement, and that refusing must be as easy as accepting.
What this website uses
We keep this deliberately minimal. At present the site sets no third-party tracking of any kind.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| csil-cookie-consent | Strictly necessary | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies, so we do not ask again on every page. | 12 months |
| Analytics (not currently active) | Optional — consent required | If we introduce website analytics, it would count visits and show which pages are used. It would only run after you press Accept. | Up to 24 months |
| Hosting server logs | Not a cookie | Our host records requests, including IP address, for security and troubleshooting. This happens at server level and cannot be switched off. | Set by our host |
Strictly necessary cookies
These are the ones the site cannot sensibly work without, and the law does not require consent for them. On this website that means a single record of your cookie choice. Without it, the banner would reappear on every page you visit.
Optional cookies
Optional cookies are not set unless you press Accept. If you press Reject, or simply ignore the banner, none are set. We do not use advertising cookies, social media pixels, or cross-site tracking of any kind, and we have no plans to.
Changing your mind
Use the buttons below to accept or reject optional cookies at any time. Your choice takes effect immediately.
You can also clear cookies and site data through your browser settings, which will remove our record of your choice and cause the banner to appear again on your next visit. Every major browser lets you block cookies entirely, though doing so can affect how other websites work.
